About me
Hi! I'm Jelmer (pronounce: Yelmer).
I co-founded a software company with three friends. We worked hard on our growth, and eventually, this paid off. Our ambition was endless, we gained more and more traction, and the company grew and grew. We were approached for an acquisition, which gave us new perspectives on our potential growth path. After speaking with many interested parties, we chose to join Visma, a fast-growing pan-European cloud software company.
For six years, I continued to build our organization as a Managing Director within Visma. The expertise and experience of such a large company — focused on accelerating the growth of all its business units — was invaluable and incredibly inspiring. So was collaborating and sparring with the talented fellow entrepreneurs/MDs and the best experts in various fields, from product development, AI, and online marketing to people & culture, finance, and growth hacking.
Building my own company, my own product, and a top-tier team was a fantastic journey. Now, I help other founders on their growth journey. I realize that independent startups often lack the support that business units have within an organization like Visma. But why shouldn't they have it? With the right guidance, every founder can organize and accelerate their growth even more effectively. And that's where I love to help!
My perspective on growth
Throughout my journey as an entrepreneur, my focus has often been on commercial and technological growth. But within that, I've always been guided by more fundamental values: equal opportunity and building a strong team that embraces diversity in background, beliefs, gender, and an appreciation for neurodiversity. I believe that the most successful companies of the future will not only be profitable but also a positive force in society.
That's why, while I work with all ambitious founders, I'm particularly passionate about supporting mission-driven companies.
